7 ½ sts and 10 rows to a 1 inch square measured over stocking stitch on No 10 needles
Both dresses :
To fit 18 to 20 and [20 to 22] inch chest
Length from back neck 14 [16] inches
Length of sleeve seam 6 [7] inches
K knit; p purl; st(s) stitch(es); dec decrease by knitting (or purling) 2 sts together; inc increase by working into front and back of same stitch; tog together; tbs through back of stitch(es); ins inches; beg beginning; rep repeat; S slip; psso pass slip stitch over; rem remain(ing); alt alternate; patt pattern; st st stocking stitch (k1 row p1 row); c contrast shade; g st garter stitch (every row knit); yn fwd yarn forward; yrn yarn around needle.
This lovely little set was knitted by a friend for her daughter in the late 1970s. Unfortunately I don’t have any photos of the knitted garment to go with the pattern.
