A baby doll’s layette


    Two ounces of Emu Zephyr 2-ply Botany
    1 pair each of UK No 14 and No 12 knitting needles
    2 tiny buttons for the vest
    3 larger buttons for the Jacket and 3 for the dress
    shirring elastic for the waist of the panties
    about one yard of Baby ribbon for the bonnet and ankles of the bootees
    a fine crochet hook.

    Tension: Worked at a tension of 9 stitches to the inch in width over the stocking stitch using No 12 needles,

    The outfit, after light pressing, will fit a doll measuring 12 inches from top of head to soles of feet and 8½ inches round the widest part of the body.

    k. knit plain; p. purl; st. stitch; tog. together; inc. increase (by working into the back and front of the same st.); dec. decrease (by working 2 sts. tog.); sl. slip; p.s.s.o pass the slipped st. over; m. make (by bringing the wool to the front of the needle so that it passes over it before knitting the next st.); s.s. stocking st. (knit on the right side and purl back); garter st. is k. plain on every row; single rib is k. 1 and p. 1 alternatively; ch. chain; d.c. double crochet. Directions in brackets are worked the number of times stated after the last bracket.
